I am sick to death of landscape painters who believe of themselves as artists. I am even more bored with beginners who study landscape painting and think about themselves as artists.
Today , there are way more famous landscape painters, but the paintings are universally rot. Let’s accept it, landscape painting isn’t a skill form any more than landscaping is a skill form. Naturally good art should be handsome, but anybody can make pretty things from a 2 years old on. What separates a real artist from a hobbyist isn’t that they can make a landscape painting that sells, but that they can create something that provokes somebody. The muse perhaps a new concept, a new emotion, or a new method of seeing the world, but irrespective of what it’s a bring something different from the viewer than they’d before. Naturally, I do not need to seem to be a snob here, but let’s face the facts. Landscape painting is rarely mandatory, even if it is in a waiting room like the dentist office. There’s always room for something that makes you think. We are inundated with pictures that make us stupider each day. Who should be stupider still? I sure don’t, and that may be a fact. It’s not enough solely to think that it’ll go with the decoration in your living room, or will look good over your bed.
That landscape painting better bring you to somewhere that you might not get without it. Never mind entertaining you up you may be cheered up by going out for a cup of joe with a pal.
If that landscape paintings not taking to, as an example, a forgotten place in your childhood, then you should seriously query if it is worthwhile.
If you’re going to be seeing the same image, studying the same image, day after day, it better be something worth seeing and studying. There are few landscape paintings that warrant such attention. It’s a rare landscape painting indeed that should be seen each day.
