Copy iPod to iTunes the Easy Way or the Hard Way: It is Your Choice

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

When you get ready to copy your iPod files over to iTunes on your computer, you have two choices. Imagine the voice of some hardened cop near retirement questioning a possible criminal with this next sentence:We can do this the easy way or the hard way. It is your choice.

Without the drama, this phrase is still the truth. You do have two options when you want to copy iPod to iTunes. You will see quickly which is best once you consider each of the two.

1. There is a standard method for making the file transfers. Just do a quick Internet search and you will be able to find instructions on how to do this. These instructions are usually pretty thorough, but you will quickly notice that they are also quite long, and quite confusing.

With this method, you will need your iPod and the iTunes on your computer, but you will be limited to just the one computer. Then, you will have to follow the step-by-step process. You will have to be careful to not click the wrong button so that you do not accidentally erase files.

2. With the second method, you choose the right iPod software. Once this software is installed, you will be able to copy the files with just one button instead of a long set of instructions.

With the software, you will also be able to copy your iPod files over to iTunes on any computer, including your laptop, your work computer, and a friend’s computer.

Now that you see your two choices, you will also see that one is much easier than the other is. The straightforward, quick process of option number two by far outweighs the confusion and multiple steps of option number one. It is your choice how you make the copies.

The Ins and Outs of VMware

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

If you’re struggling to contain the costs of your server and IT needs and are finding that you need to lower your resource levels and the amount of time your IT department spends servicing your server, you may want to consider switching to VMware. This new high-tech server option allows you to host multiple virtual machines on a single computer, and it cuts out the cost of an operating platform because it runs on its own.

Basically, with VMware, one computer can host three separate virtual computers. These computers will operate like separate machines, and each one will be able to keep its applications separate, cutting down on many of the problems you have when you try to run more than one application on each machine. Because each virtual machine will run to full capacity and will take up only one-third of the space of a traditional machine, you’ll also cut down on lots of wasted storage space and lots of wasted space in your server room.

When you use VMware, backing up your files is easy and virtual, too. You’ll have to invest in a particular system that allows you to back up your files in a software-based format, but once you do this, VMware ESX data recovery is simple. Some recovery systems even run automatically, virtually needing no human assistance.

Obviously, the fact that you need less space for your server room allows you to either increase the power and speed of your server with VMware or to cut back on the space allotted for all those machines. In cutting back on space, you also cut back on your energy bill, and with the costs of energy rising, who wouldn’t like to do that? Besides this, with a highly efficient and self-starting backup program, you also cut down on the IT resources dedicated to keeping your server up and running.
