Clomid is taken orally for the initial few days of a menstrual cycle, which is marked by the 1st day of full bleeding, for roughly 4 to 5 days.

Before beginning treatment with Clomid, many doctor’s clinics will do an examination or an ultrasound to establish if there are any structural abnormalities that might be stopping ovulation, in which case taking a drug will not help with inducing ovulation. Clomid is probably going to help most patients that take it, and as much as eighty-five p.c begin ovulating inside half a year of beginning treatment. If a pregnancy does not happen inside those half a year, then Clomid will most likely not work for you as a patient and you’ll need further exam for reason why a pregnancy isn’t taking place. There are some complications to taking Clomid which will happen, but as with any drug they won’t happen in all patients. There’s a possibility of ovarian cysts, but they don’t cause any sick effects and are benign. Also, you have to be aware that there’s a higher chance of conceiving multiples, with roughly a 5 p.c chance of twins and less sure chance for triplets. The drug has been deemed safe to be used by the FDA and hasn’t been shown to cause any fetal abnormalities or long lasting effects on the using patient.

It also appears to help with their piece of mind, usually because they feel a bit like they are taking an active role in enlarging their probabilities of pregnancy rather than trying and failing for another month.
